Community Service
In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan—where women and girls face severe inequality, displacement, and loss of basic rights—this project explores the role of design in supporting refugee communities. Commissioned by PNMCS, the proposal envisions a community center and residential development in Portland, Oregon, serving newly arrived refugees. The two-story building integrates social services, education, and temporary housing, including a lobby, café, classrooms, and residential units. The design fosters stability, dignity, and community connection as individuals transition toward self-sufficiency in a new cultural context.
